Three technical universities of Ukraine account for 20% of all IT graduates, while the remaining 80% are prepared by 133 universities

global_LGEvery fifth graduate of IT specialties graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (NTUU KPI named after I. Sikorsky), Lviv Polytechnic National University or Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KNURE). These three technical universities account for 20% of all IT graduates, while the remaining 80% are trained by 133 universities. KPI became the most popular university - 8% of IT students graduate from it.
This is confirmed by the figures of GlobalLogic, 36% of all engineers as of 2021 were educated at KPI, Lviv Polytechnic and KNURE. From 2018, these universities graduate by 10% more specialists. This indicates the good technical training that is provided in these universities. For the study, GlobalLogic used open data from sources such as DOU, BRDO, as well as internal statistics. “Ukraine has strong technical universities that train excellent specialists. However, their number is not enough, as the IT industry is developing rapidly and therefore especially needs highly qualified personnel. To support Ukrainian IT education, the GlobalLogic Group has invested $ 3.5 million since 2018 in the development of engineering talent in Central and Eastern Europe. A significant part of these funds falls on Ukraine. As part of the GlobalLogic Education initiative, we cooperate with 19 universities in Ukraine and have opened 6 educational and practical laboratories in partner universities, ”comments Yevhen Sakalo, GlobalLogic University Program Coordinator, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor.
About 25% of professionals who came to GlobalLogic in 2020 have up to one year of experience and started working with the company immediately after graduation. At the same time, 43% of newcomers (at the Trainee position) graduated from KPI, KNURE and Lviv Polytechnic. In total, more than 1,200 specialists joined the company in 2020. It should be noted that on March 31, 2021, the Japanese company Hitachi acquired the American IT company GlobalLogic for $ 9.6 billion. GlobalLogic has several offices in Ukraine, and according to the profile resource DOU, it is one of the three largest Ukrainian IT employers.
